I think my gpu might be dying if not dead, i was playing cyberpunk and saw i wasn’t getting the fps i wanted so i set power usage to ultimate performance. Still no change, it actually felt worse, now when i am playing Forza where i normally get at least 60fps at 1440p I only get 15 and my gpu is running at 3% usage and below 40degrees Celsius. What is wrong?

Cyberpunk runs horribly on many 10 series graphics cards. Your best bet would probably to use the medium or low graphics presets with the latest NVIDIA drivers.

GPU usage in Task Manager is useless in most cases, and will almost never display relevant information if you're tabbed out of the game.

Yes i understand turning the graphics down, but my graphics card doesn’t seem to work properly on any game I play anymore. I only get 15fps in forza where I normally get at least 60fps. @Falkentyne and @PorkishPig

Ok, download driver hotfix 456.98.  Then download Wagnard's display driver uninstaller.

Run DDU and 'extract' the files to a temporary folder.  Please remember the location.  Do NOT run the file in the folder yet though!

Now, unplug your internet or wifi.

Boot windows to "safemode."  Usually this is done by holding down SHIFT when choosing "restart windows" from the start menu, then choosing the advanced options, either "Boot to advanced system settings-->Safe mode" or sometimes you have to choose "safe mode" after rebooting to UEFI options.

Then run DDU (remember where you extracted the files to?) in safe mode and have it clean and restart the system.

Then reboot, install 456.98 hotfix, and plug in your internet.

It may also help to install the full Directx 9 package (I believe June 2010 redistributable package) afterwards.

Out of interest, what was your memory clock speed at when the performance dropped?

I dont know, I got around 40fps at cyberpunk so i assume the card was working normally then until I quit the game. Let the pc idle for around 2 hours then started playing Forza, as soon as the game was done launching I noticed that I only got 15fps. So I think the problem occoured while I was away with the pc just idling or right before I quit cyberpunk

I dont have any software for the card except nvidia so I dont know the cards memory speed in real time, only its factory speeds. @Schmo

@FalkentyneThis fixed my problem, im even getting higher fps than i used to now, Cyberpunk is running at high 30s - 50+fps and Forza is running high 80s to 100+ fps both at 1440p.

After i checked that everything worked with the 456.98 driver hotfix i reinstalled the latest driver again.

Thanks falken
