Need some help

Anonymous5603

Hello everyone, I need help... more like an advice. I need a PSU urgently. The only unfortunate stuff is, I live in a poor country so it's difficult to get my hands on PSU that are good. Corsair's CX550 was in stock here for some time but it seems to be out of stock everywhere right now. And the only PSU that is available is the Corsair's VS series. My current PSU, named Goldkist, has so far damaged 2 of my SSD's and a 2.5 inch hard drive. It will probably kill my whole PC in coming days and I need to get rid of it as fast as possible. So my question is, should I gamble on Corsair VS550 even though there are not many good things I hear? My current system has an i7 3770S, 8 GB Hyper X RAM and GTX 1050ti. I want to be able to upgrade my GPU and CPU to a better one in the future with maybe an RTX 3060 and R5 5600. Will that PSU do the job? Or am I risking losing my whole PC anyways? Please reply fast if possible. Thank you.

Assuming you're talking about the newer, grey/black label Corsair VS (not the older orange/yellow label VS), it will work fine for your current parts.

For a Ryzen 5600 and an RTX 3060, or any remotely power hungry modern components, not so much. You'd want something better when you eventually upgrade.

So I can't use that power supply with the R5 5600 and RTX 3060 even if I don't overclock them by 1 Mhz? That kinda sucks. But if that PSU can save my PC I guess that's all that matter right now for me.

If you're sure that it's the PSU that's causing the issues you're having, and you've no better options available other than the VS, then I guess you might as well go for it.

I'm also guessing it to be honest. I tried using my SSD with my old mobo (MSI H61) and processor with the same psu in hopes the problem was my cheap Esonic mobo but nope, my drive did not work properly. It would freeze really bad and when I move my mouse it would have a beep sound. I tried the SSD in my moms laptop and it started to work just fine. That's why I'm suspecting the PSU might be the problem. I also did a big brain move and cut out the molex connectors from the psu which also probably caused the problem. Now I don't have a properly working drive and am running my OS on my external drive. I'm just hoping that the new PSU will fix the issues. Thank you for the comments though mate. I'll order it and keep my fingers crossed and hope I didn't made a bad decision.
