GPU Upgrade or CPU?

FenrirLF
Go to solution Solved by HannahLewis,

Definately the GPU first.

Hi guys

So this is my current system:

CPU: Ryzen 7 1700
GPU: Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1060 3GB Windofrce
RAM: G.SKILL Trident Z 16GB (3200mhz)
Mobo: Asrock B450M Pro 4
Storage:

Samsung 970 Evo Plus 250GB (OS)
Samsung 860 Evo 250GB (Games)
Western Digital Blue 1TB (Storage)

So as i said in the title i want to upgrade either my CPU or my GPU. For the GPU i am heading towards a Gigabyte Geforce RTX 3060TI 8GB and for CPU, i dont know yet.
Is it worth it to upgrade my Ryzen 1700 to a 3600 or something? The truth is i do a lot of multitasking so Ryzen hasn't disappointed me yet.
What do you think guys? Is my current CPU futureproof for maybe 1-2 years?(maybe more? Also i play on 1080P and to be fair i don't play each and every game that comes out on my PC but i am definetely be buying CyberPunk so my current GPU won't handle it
So thats about it. What do you think guys.

P.S RTX 3060TI costs around 550 where i live so if you got any other suggestions let me know :).
Thank you.

In my opinion your GPU should be the one upgraded. The RTX 3060 ti would be a great option but the new Radeon graphics cards would also be a good choice considering that you have an AMD processor.

Upgrade GPU. I doubt your ryzen 1700 bottlenecks a game at 100% cpu usage, at least not a game post beta.

RTx 3070 is supposed to cost 500

CPU: Ryzen 2600 GPU: RX 6800 RAM: ddr4 3000Mhz 4x8GB  MOBO: MSI B450-A PRO Display: 4k120hz with freesync premium.

Exactly. But the RTX 3070's price is from 680 to 890 here so its way out of my budget.I canw ait like another month to see if they lower the price but i dont see any other alternative for RTX 3060 TI.What do you think?

an rx 6800 could be good because these cards should be around $550

RX 6800 hasn't been released at least here but from what i have seen it costs around 579$ i think? so here it will be like 700 or something so again its out of my budget.

Thats true but i have heard a lot of people that still have problems with their AMD Cards' drivers and RX 6800 hasn't been released at least here but from what i have seen it costs around 579$ i think? so here it will be like 700 or something so again its out of my budget.

The driver situation on the Nvidia side is better but I've not really encountered any problems with AMD cards either it's just more of a hassle sometimes.

I5-8600K - GTX 1080 - 16GB RAM - 1.5TB SSD

I want everything pink

I got my 5700 XT in May of this year....no real driver problems yet...

Apparently RX 6800 / 6800 XT initial release drivers were basically on-point this time around.

Yeah thats what i think too. My GPU IS 3GB so the struggle is real.As for the CPU though i still dont know if its worth getting a 3600 or something like that or staying with R7 for a few years more(Till DDR5 releases and becomes mainstream).
