so, the holidays are coming up and I want a CPU upgrade. I horribly underbalanced everything in my system like what the.

 

things I do - fusion 360 aka C.A.D. I work on my . mostly C.A.D. through some inscape in there and you have me in a nut shell.

 

monitor - 1080p 60fps*2

 

graphics - gtx 1650 super

 

mother board - MSI MPG Z390 GAMING EDGE AC

 

trash CPU - intel core i3-9100f yes the worst (actually not even close)

 

price range 150 to 250

any thing else you need?

Fusion360 and Inkscape aren't very demanding. You should be fine with a 8th or 9th gen i5.

One thing that you don't mention is your RAM. Parametric CAD programs are typically happy with 16 GB nowadays, for most modelling tasks.

Are you doing any simulation or render work with the models?

Unless you want to go used, it looks like your best option for a CPU is a 9600k  (assuming you live in the US) If you are willing to go used, you should be able to get a 9700k just within your budget. Make sure you have plenty of RAM as well.
