Panel header power button failing, can it damage anything?

I noticed today that my PC's power BLUE LED was not on. 

 

So I opened up the PC and put back the power les headers on the mobo. They came back on but were flickering and I noted one of the cable metal pin was slightly loose (probably why its flickering on and off) 

 

I unplugged them and the annoying HDD lights too,

 

Could the flickering have caused any damage to the PC and is it inadvisable to not have the power led connected, should I get a new case?
