CPU Cooler Advice

NDF92

Hi All,

I have recently ordered an i9 10850K as part of my new build, along with a Noctua NH-D15 as the CPU cooler.

Unfortunately whilst the rest of my components have arrived, the Noctua is going to take at least another 8 days to arrive, and I am keen to get started on the build and install etc.

Do you think I could get away with an old intel stock cooler whilst I wait for the Noctua to arrive?

I'm in the fortunate position where my case is huge and I would have access to install the backplate for the Noctua even with the MOBO installed.

Many thanks in advance,

NDF

You can. That chip is close to a nuke in thermal output and will clock down but will run (slower).

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, I think I will just go for it but only do the basics, Windows install and my core programs etc. until the Cooler arrives
