ram overclocking

so ive tried overclocking my ram but i running into some problems

my ram kit is a corsair lxp 3600 18 - CMK16GX4M2D3600C18

got Samsung's B-Die (ver 4.32 and checked with thaiphoon)

10600K on 4.8 (all cores) on a Gigabyte Vision G

vccio is 1.15

vccsa is also 1.15

the timing with xmp is 18-22-22-42

i did 3600MHZ 17-20-20-40 and its stable

did 3800MHZ 18-21-21-41 and its not booting

3800MHZ 17-20-20-40 is 80% stable

3866MHZ 17-20-20-40 1000% stable but it booted at 3466MHZ

secondary timings are tight but not as tight (if needed ill also mention that)

and for some reason my tRFC is REALLY sensitive

with XMP its at 630, if i do 580, rip

why is that?

I literally just returned that same ram kit last week because it refused to overclock for me as well. XMP worked fine, but if I tried to increase the frequency or lower the timings, the ram down clocked itself to 3466, same as it did for you.

Thats memory overclocking in a nutshell. Some things work while other won't move a tick down. Also sure you have samsung b die but 3600 cl 18 isn't a very good bin so I wouldn't expect much to anything in the sense of overclocking from them.

in my case just one bin that ive done did that

3800 was 3800

3700 was 3700

just 3866

maybe i should try giving it a higher voltage?

saw a good guide and it says that with samsung's b-die the voltage should be set to 1.25

i also have the exact same kit but with a micron e-die version should i try to overclock the instead?

I tested it up to 1.45v vddr & 1.3v vccsa and saw no improvement

Doesn't hurt to try. But I don't believe timings scale with voltage on those dies

well ill try higher voltage and after that ill try the other kit

if both of them will still not overclock ill just sell them and get a g.skill trident z kit, i know thats a good b-die kit

something like a 16gb 3600 16 kit
