CPU Clock ?'s

tjrose91

Got a couple old Dell XPS's a 420 and a 430

I'm keeping the 420 as it has the mini display with solitaire and its more nostalgic

main question i was able to do the tape mod on the q6600 got a 1495 on Cinibench r23

when i did the same mod on the Q8200 that has max clock of 2.3 but cinibench R23 reports 3.0ghz with the tape mode, but all other software reports 2.33ghz, what clock speed should i rely on

will use this system for basic everyday tasks as it has a HD 6770

my main system is a

10700k @ 5.0ghz all core

4x4gb 3000mhz

Vega 64 Liquid cooled edition

Try using HWinfo64. HWMonitor can be inaccurate with sensor readings and it's not advised to rely on HWMonitor's readings for anything.

Man I wish I could run Cinebench R23 but it refuses to open on my computer. Works on my laptop though.

Even HWinfo64 reports 2.33ghz, just weird that Cinibench r23 says 3.0 ghz, had to use HWinfo64 in my 10700k as any other software when i was benching the system at the time didnt report the clocks and temps

Oh ok. Perhaps Cinebench has it incorrect in their system to report a higher clock speed than what Intel placed on the Q8200.

remember i also did the tape mod on both the Q6600 and the Q8200 just to see if it would work on the Q8200 as CPUZ reported the OC on the Q6600

Oh I didn't even realise what the tape mod was (found a thread of LTT forum about it), but then the software reporting the clock speeds lower is odd. Perhaps its just the maximum it can read on it?
