Workstation recomendations

rkunati

Hey Guys,

I need a workstation for college (SQL, Python, Excel, Access). I found a workstation near me for sale and was wondering if it was a good deal. The specs are:

●  Intel Core i5-7400 Processor ( 6M Cache , 3.0GHz )
●  Windows 10 Pro 64

●  Tower 85% Power 210W
●  32GB ( 16 + 16 ) DDR4 2400 UDIMM
●  NVIDIA Geforce GT730 2GB DDR5 64bit DP High Profile
●  1TB Hard Drive, 7200 RPM, 3.5", SATA3
●  Integrated Gigabit Ethernet
●  Intel 8265 2x2AC+Bluetooth Version Non-vPro

●  7 in 1 Card Reader

They are asking for around $500 USD, located in Northern VA. They say they bought it for $800 dollars in 2018 from Lenovo, so this is a good deal. What do you guys think?

I just saw the i5-7400, 32 GB of ram, 1 TB storage and figured those 3 combined, just by themselves, are worth at least $400 plus the Windows 10 Pro ($100) would make it worth it. Thank You all for the replies, I will stick to buying new from best buy.

Probably not a good choice. PSU seems not great, and the GPU is terrible.

Maybe a couple upgrades would make it worth it...

500$ for that crappy system? Damn that is worse than something you could go buy right now in a local store for 500$.

Never worth it when the price of this system + upgrades would basically mean it's more expensive and worse than a newer better system
