cable management tips

ive got some new fans and a new power supply coming in tuesday, and ive decided that since ill be working inside my computer getting the new stuff all installed, that i will do a much better job of cable management, does anyone have any tips for how one should manage their cables? ill post a pic if that will help.

Depends on your case, but the easiest way to get clean cable managing is to find all the wires that need to go to one location, and then find the shortest path for them to get there. For example, most cases have a little slit near the 24-pin motherboard connector, so it makes the most sense to route the cable through there. Fans are a little bit more difficult, especially in you're using fan headers on the motherboard (as opposed to a controller), but you should still see if you can route them around the back, or at least tuck the cable into a corner of the case. Once all you've routed your cables, you can gather a bunch that are going to the same location, and group them using a zip tie or velcro strap. If you're using zip ties, make sure not to do them too tight, or you risk cutting the cable when you cut the zip tie. If your case has cable channels, make use of those too.
