Hi everyone, I'm just wondering as I am quite new to the whole concept of a home server does anyone have any suggestions for something I could use as a Plex server? I'm open to any ideas. I'm intending on using it for a max of 2-3 1080p video streams on my home network (about 350mpbs). I also have 2 Raspberry Pi 3Bs I could use.

Feel free to link products although if possible please link to either the UK/EU version of the retailers website or retailers that ship internationally.

Thank you!

For fthose uses you relly don't need a. gpu. any semi recent cpu should handle those streams fine.

How many tb of storage do you need?

Id just get. used business desktop, like a optiplex.

Synology is an excellent way to use Plex. The biggest cost will be your drives.

Hello everyone.

I'm still vanilla to forum posting so forgive me.

I've been seeing that my plex server encoding and decoding are a little slow. I wa ted advice to see if it is worth picking up an old gpu, possibly even a mining gpu with no output as featured on LTT before for the purpose? Ty.
