I don't know what to do lol

Timmex

I'm tryna change some components on my pc and wanted to ask what you guys would do... I got an I5 6400 and an gtx 1050ti atm... But I'm on 8gb of ram and it's not good ram as far as I know... So would you upgrade the cpu an the ram or just the ram because a new gpu is for sure... Getting an gtx 1660ti

I'd get a 1660 Super, nearly the same performance for much cheaper.

It depends on your budget.

CPU+motherboard upgade (high budget):
Nowadays there are Intel i3 CPUs with 4 cores and 8 threads and up to 4.4 GHz boost frequency.

Yours has 4 cores, 4 threads and 3.3 GHz boost frequency.

But your CPU still has the FCLGA1151 socket while new Intel CPUs use the FCLGA1200 socket.
So you would have to buy a new motherboard too.

And since you would have to get a new motherboard anyway, you could also go for an AMD Ryzen CPU with an AM4 socket. If you already have DDR4 RAM you can still use it. If you have DDR3 RAM, you can't.

This would be good for the future.

CPU upgrade without new motherboard (medium budget):

The fastest CPU I could find for your motherboards chipset and socket is the Intel Core i7 6700K.

It has 4 cores, 8 threads and 4.2 GHz boost frequency but it would still be worse than an i3 from today...

So this is not future proof.

CPU + motherboard + RAM upgrade (highest budget):

I don't know what kind of RAM you are using now... But if you go for Intel without overclocking you could get DDR4-2666 RAM (running with 2x 2666 MHz). If you go for AMD I think, every motherboard supports RAM overclocking. So you could go for DDR4-3600 RAM for example. Intel motherboards who support RAM overclocking and overclocking at all are marked with a Z but they are more expensive.

This would be the best option for the future.

RAM (low budget):
Your current CPU supports up to DDR4-2133 RAM. So if you just want to upgrade your RAM, you could do that.
