3070 vs 3080

Go to solution Solved by Exeon,

For 4K I'd go with the 3080 period.

If you don't mind AMD i'd go with the 6800 XT if the price is right for 4K.

Benchmarks are slightly poorer, I still believe 10GB's is not enough for 4K in 2 years from now, 1440p should be fine.

DLSS implementations might throw this out, but there will always be games that won't have it

I'm just gonna be playing forza horizon 4 at 4k ultra settings on it and minecraft rtx. And 4k stuff. And I want at the the very least 60FPS, preferably 120FPS. Plz help Thanks :)

The 3080 is the fastest 4K card at the around $700 price point. If you are doing 4K, I'd recommend it.

The 10GBs of VRAM worries some people but in reviews of the 6800 XT, the higher memory bandwidth secures the 3080 a small but very measurable win in most 4K titles based on the reviews I've watched. Not sure how it'll age in the future, but that's hard to predict.

I wouldn't get the 3070 for 4K. That's a 1440p card in my opinion. Minecraft RTX is pretty demanding so I'd get the 3080.

Current System: Ryzen 7 3700X, Noctua NH L12 Ghost S1 Edition, 32GB DDR4 @ 3200MHz, MAG B550i Gaming Edge, 1TB WD SN550 NVME, SF750, RTX 3080 Founders Edition, Louqe Ghost S1

With the 3080 if you're playing minecraft rtx what kind of frame rates would you get?

I don't have Minecraft RTX sadly, but in the reviews the 3080 got around 80 fps with DLSS I believe. I'd have to rewatch to be sure

Honestly I think it will be enough for most games. At worst all it would take is turning down one game setting.

I'd agree with going with the 3080 (I love mine) for 4K.
