I need help with my monitor!!!

I just plugged in a 1440p monitor to my 2019 or 2020 (idk) Macbook pro. Now whenever I use the monitor everything is so small and there are big spaces on either side of pages in chrome. I already tried using the scaling thing but whenever I go down to 1080p or even just a little bit lower, the screen gets very very fuzzy. PLEASE HELP ASAP!!!

Also, I tried putting optimize for my Macbook display and now there are black bars on either side of the screen
