That one seems ok. For sub 100$ its probably about the best option you have.

Just wondering what the best diskless NAS for less than $100 is.

My PC:

CPU: Xeon E3 1230 V3(Haswell) @ 3.7GHz Motherboard: AsRock B85M-ITX RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengeance LP Blue @ 1600MHz Storage: Intel 520 Series 120(Boot), Seagate Barracuda 500GB @ 7200RPM, Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB @ 5400RPM GPU: ZOTAC GTX 970 @ 1.4GHz Case: Node 304 Power Supply: CX430

Not going to find much for under $100. Maybe some diskless Enclosures that have to be plugged into a computer or something.

There is a place in my area where you can buy a linux box for less then that. Could I put freenas on it and make that work?

If you're going to be using the main feature of freenas (the ZFS file system) for redundancy then probably not. As ZFS loves to eat RAM and requires at least 2-4gb on the low end + 1gb of ram per TB of hdd space you have.
