HAF X/XM 420mm radiator possible?

WhiteSkyMage

Hey,

Those 2 cases can have 200mm fans or 360mm radiator on top right (without any modding). However, will it be possible to fit a Kraken X60 and Kraken X40 radiators on top (both of them)? I just don't want to take off the front 200mm or 230mm LED fan, so fitting two on top would do good. Pls say, how do I have to mod it so they fit and do you think that's going to be challenging? I really don't wanna screw it up...

I believe you can only fit a single 2x140mm rad on the top and if you do some modding it is capable of holding a 3x120mm. I really doubt a 3x140mm will fit in the top.

Hope this helps:

Yeah I know - that's on the HAF XM... oh well...maybe I will try on the HAF X then.

A X60 is 280MM and that will fit in the haf X

What about both 1 X60 and 1 X40?

I just saw this, that's why I'm asking... As I see, that's a modded HAF X, It looks a bit challenging lol...

That is a modded Haf X and can natively support a 3x120mm with no modifications, the Haf XM only supports a 2x120mm radiator also with no modification.

The Haf X that was in that photo was quite different from a stock Haf X and had me confused for a bit there but I was able to find the post on it if you interested in doing a mod similar to that:

That's actually the same mod. I am just wondering, how did he put those trapezium-shaped peaces which are not on the "original" top view of the case... did he just stick them on? They even have 2 holes through them...lol

In the post he said he welded it on but said one could also use rivets, basically making them from scratch and also adding the holes.

"For others attempting this, you don't have to tig weld the tabs as I have, you could easily cut 6 tabs and pop rivet them to the top of the case. That would also look nice. It would be very simple to do. For the metal, I used an old case front."

Hmm, in that case, i might then make it longer with 20mm and put some holes...

Ahh it's hard when I have so few places to put fans on. The 200mm on side panel i definitely do not intend to remove, as well as the stock LED one on the front which is 230mm...they are big fans and they take in lots of air without making lots of noise. So i do have only the rear and the top to deal with in that case...that's why i am looking for a way to put the 140mm fans and have no 120mm ones anywhere on my case. Looks like i can trust the Kraken X40 and X60 more than Corsair's Hs.

  • 5 years later...

This thread might be dead but you can fit a 420 very nicely in a haf x and I plan to purchase a radiator soon and use the dual 200mm top fans to cool it.

It fits too perfect for me not too and I've already drilled the rivets and pulled the lower drive trays out of the case. I'm going to have two 200mm intake front fans, one 200mm intake side, two 200 top exhaust cpu loop, and one 140mm exhaust rear gpu loop
