Hi guys,

A few days ago, I finished building my pc. I had an msi r9 380 and installed the xfx thic 3 5700xt yesterday. What I noticed yesterday was that after I installed the new gpu, there was minor flickering. Today I bought some more ram and I got 4 sticks running at 1.2 volts at 3200 mhz. After that, I am experiencing some weird situations; the pc would freeze, then the screen would turn static and then restart. Some programs would not work / freeze and then the pc would restart on it's on. I am pretty sure I have the new gpu attached properly. I have downloaded the latest drivers as well. Maybe it is the ram? But like I mentioned earlier, after installing the new gpu last night, I noticed minor flickering. I haven't updated the bios if it needs to be.

My specs:

R5 3600

Xfx thic 3 5700xt

Corsair lpx 3200mhz (4×8)

Asrock b550 steel legend

Season focus gold semi modular 650w

M.2 wd black 500gb

It might be the RAM, GPU or both.

1. Try first putting your old GPU in and see if you get flickering.

2. If you do, put the 5700 XT back in and try some different RAM (see if you can borrow some from a friend or something).

3. If you still get flickering, put the old GPU back in and try the different RAM.

If no flickering after step 1, it is your GPU.

If no flickering after step 2, it is your RAM.

If no flickering after step 3, it is both your GPU and RAM.

If you still get flickering after step 3, push any key and wait for Setup to finish copying files.

PLEASE STOP [Killing] ME I WILL GIVE Y OU ANOTHER DEAL.

I was still on bios p1.00 according to cpu-z. On asrock's support page, p1.00 was there first bios. I am currently updating. Hopefully it was nothing more than just updating the bios.

I wish you luck  :)

Alright so I just finished updating to the newest bios. It has been 15-20 minutes. No sign of flickering and static screen. I opened steam and other applications and they seem to open with no hiccups.

Yesterday, I was experiencing some minor flickering and on one occasion I had to do a hard reset. I tested gta v, only issue I had was a freezing in the menu which I had to do a hard reset. During game play though, I had no issues. I also tested batman arkham knight, no issues as well during game play. When I use Chrome,  that is when imo the flickering and freezing starts.  Albeit I did see some flickering during the log in screen of windows. I used the windows memory diagnostic tool, it says my ram has no issues. I am using 4 sticks (4*8) at 2133mhz. I went into bios and enabled xmp to get it at the desired speed, but that doesn't work. I had to do multiple hard resets. I am using asrock b550 steel legend. The bios i am on right now is p1.50 and the latest one is p1.52. Just curious, anyone experience issues with flickering or hard resets after updating to their latest bios?
