Does the intel performance maximizer still kill cpu's and is does it give free performance?

I have gotten a new psu 1 week ago, no issues with it.

Its a 850W Seasonic Focus GX-850, so i should have more than enough power.

Could some setting in the bios be causing this maybe?

Not that I would be aware off.

Generally VRM temps or CPU temps can shut down a board. Rarely an overclock (as mild as yours) would shut a board down like that.

Bad OC maybe a restart or blue screen.

Not sure which settings in bios you changed, but not likely anything you did wrong.

My pc did automatically restart though, like i didn't have to push the power button to turn it back on.

Mainboard restart doesnt make the PSU breaker flip which you described it as a shut down.

Gotta be sure for a good diag.

Well the PSU shut off or the board?

Cause if it's the PSU ( no idea what you have) you really want to replace asap and OC later.

So do experiment. Mine doesnt shut off (8700k on Maximus X hero) from overclocking and generally get a blue screen or just a hang if an OC is bad.

Important because a PSU can take out other hardware with it. So try not to replicate this shut down often, but must diagnose which component caused the it.

It was the motherboard, my bad.

The motherboard shut off, but what could be causing this?

I have tried it at +1 ratio at 1.3V, the motherboard shut itself off to save my pc.

So what are the cpu temps?

CPU temps were fine.

I figured out that i forgot to plug in a 4 pin power cable for the processor, plugged it in and managed to run 4.7ghz and possibly 4.8ghz yesterday.

I tried running 4.8ghz and 4.7ghz again today and my motherboard shut itself off again.

What should i do?

Use a lower clock and voltage maybe.
