Windows 7, mint. I used easybcd to add the mint to by boot manager. I select mint and it gives ma an error.

when you added mint to the boot manager, did you enter the correct directory the mint files are on?

I think so. I used the swap partition. Am I supposed to use a different one?

hmm no should be fine. have you ever booted into linux though? you can just set the partition up in priority and it should just boot into linux natively. Also usually linux adds a boot file to the partition it is installed on. So try adding windows to that partition, worked for me ;)

No luck. :( any other ideas? I have never been able to boot in to linux. The best I get is a screen with what looks like a command prompt window and I use "boot" and is gives me error 8 no kernel or something like that.

Do you use a uefi motherboard?  If so I dont think Linux Mint supports uefi.   I use a uefi motherboard and I run Ubuntu.  Try install the latest version of Ubuntu instead of mint.

No uefi.  I have ubuntu but like the layout and look of mint better. Is there anything I can do to get mint to work?

When you install Linux mint choose install Linux mint alongside it's a lot better and easier.

Are you installing it to a partition, or a second hard drive?
