RAID or not?

Thinking of getting a couple of 1TB 2.5" SSD's which add up to less than the cost of a 2TB model. Would it be worth putting them in a RAID 0 configuration in order to create a single virtual partition across both drives? Or just simply use them as is?

 

I already have an nVME drive for Win10 and programs. These drives would be for storage.

Id relly try to just get the 2tb drive if you can. There normally not more, esp in the us.

 

Id raid 0 them, easier to manage with less partitions. If you keep it backed up data loss isn't much of a risk, and ssds don't fail that often.

 

But really depends on how you want to manage data.

As long as you have a working backup solution (weekly, monthly etc) I'd raid0 them, more throughput won't lower load times for games but it's worth it for installs and file moves for sure

I personally have a RAID 0 of 3X 1TB SATA SSDs, mostly storing game files. Anything on them that I don't want to lose is backed up on my NAS.

 

I'd recommend this configuration, but obviously not SATA drives since they are a bad value these days.
