Hello,

I have recently bought a Ryzen 5 1600, MSI x370 Carbon Pro Gaming motherboard and Corsair LPX DDR4 2400HMz memory off a friend of mine for my other PC (it was getting quite dated)

I am having troubles getting the memory to run at its full speed, task manager is reporting the speed as 1067Mhz or 1600Mhz. I have set the memory speed in the BIOS to 2400Mhz, which it likes to boot loop when this is set. Cpu-z is also reporting the same speeds as task manager.

Am I missing anything? I am new to the Ryzen platform, as i have always has Intel for my personal rigs.

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers.

Computer Specs:

CPU - Intel Core i5-8600k @ 4.7 GHz
GPU - NVIDIA GTX 1080Ti FE
RAM - Corsair Vengeance PRO RGB 32GB @ 3000 MHz

So.... You went from a 8600K to a 1600? You went backwards in IPC, only gained thread count. Essentially a downgrade.

Anyhow.

Can you list the memory part number please?

Oh no this platform is for my secondary PC, it had an I5 3570k and DDR3. My own rig is the 8600k.

This is a part number that I have found on a local hardware store website - CMK16GX4M2A2400C16. This is a part number for the DIMMS that are currently on that system.

Try and clear the cmos on the board. Those should post at default 2400mhz.

Cheers, I'll give it a shot.

I was talking to said friend about it, it turns out it has a beta BIOS on it, from when he was running his 3rd gen Ryzen on it. So I will be updating that later this week or at the weekend to see if helps.
