Incorrect cable error message

So recently I bought an active adapter for my monitor so that it can output using dual link DVI-D to my monitor as it only supports 144hz over DVI-D. 

The adapter only lets me reach 120hz, however when i try to set it anything above 60hz, it will give me an error message "Incorrect cable, please use the DVI cable that came with your monitor"

I got a 3070 so it doesnt support DVI-D hence why i need an adapter.

Is there anyway to fix this?

A link to the adapter would be helpful.

Also which 3070?

What monitor?
