I'm not certain this can be done. For starters, drivers are going to be an issue.

with a typical 'desktop' GPU like you can buy off the shelf - no you cant.

besides needing ridiculous amounts of "BARspace", you need a type of register that the pi's chipset simply doesnt have. besides that, even if it would work, it's not a practical application at all, bringing you way into the price bracket of an actual x86 platform, while getting much less performance.

 

EDIT: because my keyboard is arse, it hit just the right buttons to prermaturely fiddle with the 'submit reply' button..
