Efficient laptop

I want a power efficient laptop with good battery life and good build quality for $600-1000

 

Mostly for basic tasks. Not gaming.

What kind of basic tasks? Chromebook might suffice and would be great in terms of battery life.

I don't want a chromebook,

I will be running programs on my laptop, potentially art programs, music software, and other light programs.

Define good battery life. Cuz you get some mainstream HP Pavilion and get a good five or six hours out of it, or even one of Intel's 11th gen which supposedly has double digit battery life. Got any brand preference or anything in particular you're looking in addition to battery life?

There's really not much to go on here in terms of what you need. "music software and art programs" could be anything from audacity to high end music production and/or animation software.

 

If you want something that is thicker and going to give you the most power, you can get an Asus G14 for around 1000 for the base model config, which will be the most performance you can probably get in your budget and for your tasks. Battery life is decent, but not exceptional.

 

 

If you want something thinner and lighter, I'd look for something like below. This is a dell, but I believe Lenovo makes some laptops in this same general size also with the new AMD 4000 series mobile chips, which is what I would be looking for. The intel ones are *fine* but you're going to miss out on some performance with them vs the AMD ones.

I have no brand preference.

I want 10+ hours of battery life.
