A blinking orange light usually indicates a gigabit connection. You should probably check your network configuration.

  1. Download network/LAN drivers from the motherboard support page. Then uninstall the old drivers and install what you downloaded.
  2. Unplug the ethernet cable at both ends and plug them back in. Make sure they make a snug fit.
  3. Change the ethernet cable to CAT5e or better.

Has the ethernet connection worked before or are you connecting it to the PC for the first time?

Try the tips suggested here.

I am connecting first time

Are you connecting directly to the router/switch?

What kind of ethernet cable are you using? Cat5/Cat5e/Cat6/etc? Is it a pre-made cable or one that you crimped yourself?

Did you test with another cable altogether? What about another port on the router/switch?

It should be fine, provided you install the proper drivers.

As it concerns latency, that will depend on multiple factors, but those are usually not in your control when using a wired connection.
