HDMI to DP adapter

Hi everyone

Sorry if i posted in the wrong section, I'm still new here !

I have a computer with only VGA and HDMI ports, I want to connect it to my monitor which have DP with sound. However, there is no cheap HDMI to DP adapter, the cheapest one costs arount 25$ and comes with a USB plug,

I have a plenty of spare cables, does anyone have schematics to solder stuffs and get an affordable home made adapter ?

You want a decent HDMI to DP cable - Don't get a cheapo one off eBay - especially if you want to run at anything higher than 1080p and higher than 60hz but if your monitor has VGA I doubt it'll do anything more than 1080p 60hz anyway...

HDMI signalling isn't compatible with a DP input. The only reason DP to HDMI cables work is that the DP output can generate HDMI signalling.

 

Unfortunately, you'll need one of the active converters in order to get HDMI to DP to work.
