Recommended PSU?

toonsummoner

Hello everyone, new guy here. Recently decided to get all the parts for my new PC I'm going to build. Was j/w what the recommended PSU was for it? I went with the Cooler Master, but admittedly, I did not consult the tier list, and a lot of reviews say this PSU arrives DoA. Would you guys recommend changing it? Price is not a huge issue but no more than $130 would be ideal as I am already over-budget.

I mean if you're actually worried about it and haven't bought it yet then I'd just change it. Get either a Corsair or EVGA PSU. Linus talks or sponsors Seasonic a lot as well.

Well, I know you are asking about your PSU, but I see a couple more problems personally. I'm just going to start with the PSU and you can feel free to ignore the rest. The Phanteks AMP 650w is the same price and is better overall.

IGNORE THIS IF YOU BOUGHT THE PARTS ALREADY:

Onto my suggestions for the overall build:

Why are you spending $40 more for the 3600x when you can get the 3600 for $200. You could spend the extra $40 on a better cooler, like the Fuma 2, or the Arctic Freezer 34 eSports Duo.

You are over-spending on that SSD when you can get a better NVMe for the same price.

This one is more of a personal gripe. Why are you paying for a Win10 key when you can either download it from Microsoft for free, just unactivated, or buy a cheap key off of Ebay.

I'd personally would spend less on the motherboard, especially with only using a 3600. Even then, there are better choices, though looking at your build, you probably want the RGB.

Here is the fixed list, though you can ignore the motherboard suggestion if you want the RGB:

And here is the list with the Windows Key and motherboard intact (with another CPU cooler suggestion):

MAIN PC:

CPU: Intel® Core™ i9-9900K Processor  Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro Wifi  CPU Cooler: Scythe Fuma 2  GPU: EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra  RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32GB (4x8GB) 3000Mhz CL15

Headphones: Philips SHP9500s   Keyboard: Corsair K70 RGB MK.2 Cherry MX Red  Displays: Gigabyte M27Q (27" 1440p 170hz IPS), Samsung UN32EH4003FXZA (32" 768p 60hz TV)

SECONDARY PC:

CPU: Intel® Core™ i3-9100F Processor  Motherboard: ASRock Z390 Phantom Gaming 4-CB  CPU Cooler: Arctic Alpine 12 CO  GPU: EVGA RTX 3060 XC RAM: ADATA XPG 16GB (2x8GB) 2400Mhz CL16
