Hello,

Because i am new with pc and i dont know that much i would like to know something

So i want to change my current pc case to a new gaming one but i am not sure which cases support my motherboard

My motherboard is 0D28YY from dell optiplex 790

When i search for pc cases there are options like Mini ITX, uATX / Micro ATX

I would appreciate if any of you knows what type my motherboard is or where to find it

That looks like a proprietary motherboard, unfortunately, so it won't fit in most normal cases.

I don't think it's really worth investing into a Core2 platform anyway for most things-- if you're going to be buying new parts, you'll be better served by a new system.

The system has an i3 2120 ,8GB RAM and a GT 1030

i was also thinking of upgrading my motherboard because the current support only second generation intel processors

So do you have any particular motherboard in mind

I am looking for a motherboard that supports intel processors for newer generations

You are most likely looking at an ATX form factor for any new motherboard you buy since they are the most common.

What generation of Intel processor are you considering upgrading to? That will determine which socket and chipset you require. Only then can you decide which specific motherboard to buy.

-> Moved to New Builds and Planning

So you are running into issue with pre-built based hardware. Proprietary means that standard ATX cases won't have suitable standoffs for those mobos. Be it BTX or DTX or something else.

How much you know about upgrading paths in general? Your current system is using DDR3, so upgrading mobo means upgrading CPU too (and case, PSU etc.). DDR3 limits the highest possible Intel CPU to Devils Canyon i7s. And while those are still good, unless you can find ones with really good used deals, thats not still worth it considering what kind of hardware you could get with full platform upgrade to DDR4 (giving you both Intel and AMD Ryzen as possibilities).

What kind of budget you are playing with at this point?
