So I am upgrading from a 7700k to one of the new Ryzen CPUs

either the 5600X or 5800X

I will be pairing either one with the following

NZXT H1 case

32gb 3200mhz DDR4

Nvidia 3070 FE

Acer Predator 27" 1440p @165hz

I mainly game and "work"

the 5600x is around £280,

the 5800x is around £420

so what CPU do you think I should get, I won't be updating the CPU for around 3/4 years....

money isn't an issue but I don't like t waste it aswell .. if you know what i mean

Folding Stats

5800x, in the future games will need more cores and you don't want to upgrade soon, and the 5700x is cheaper just a tiny slower boost clocks

You want your system to boot fast and to react quickly...

Even a Ryzen 3 can do that combined with a SSD.

You want 1440p gaming with high settings...

That's mainly the job of your graphics card.

Since money is not a problem, the 5600X is the choice to be ready for some CPU heavy games and high framerates.

But I think, 5800X is a little overkill.

The 5800X would save some time when you are video editing but you don't...
