Modding a Keyboard

GeneralGusher

hey,

I want to mod my mechanical keyboard, and I was wondering if these ideas are possible. I was thinking about chanigng my key switches to something linear and not too loud. I was also wondering if its possiable to make a wired keyboard bluetooth. Here is the keyboard: It isnt the best but its what I could afford,https://www.amazon.com/Mechanical-Keyboard-FLAGPOWER-Anti-Ghosting-Keyboards/dp/B07VKRGR1H/ref=sr_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=flagpower+mechanical+keyboard&qid=1604109309&s=electronics&sr=1-7

You'll have to desolder each switch. You might wanna consider building one from scratch instead of modding one

Not worth desoldering for a chassis like that.

Get a GMMK if you want a fullsize you can put your own switches into.

Do you just want to do it for fun? Its definitely not worth trying to mod

OK thanks. I didnt relize I would have to desolder everything. That would be more expensive than building a new one im guessing

1. switching keys

yes

2. making it wirless

It depends. Either you need to redesign some parts of the electronics or it needs to be a old keyboard with a lot of empty space where you can add things.

With these cheap keyboards there is a high chance of them using a controller module which you could swap/redesign.

Ok thanks. I probabaly wont because everyone else is saying its not worth it and that it would probabaly be more expensive than making one

Wouldn't be expensive, just not worth it, especially if you don't already have desoldering equipment.

Yeah I’m gonna be honest I haven’t ever soldered anything so I don’t think modding it would be a good idea

It wouldn't be that much more expensive. Soldering irons are only around 20 bucks. Soldering or desoldering is not hard to do BTW. But it would be a ginormous hassle.
