Case fans: I know nothing...

I'm COMPLETELY lost on how fan headers are. 

 

So my questions... 

What is the difference between a chassis fan header and a cpu fan header? 

Can there be 3 or 4 pins on each? 

In the Corsair 250D, there is an intake and an exhaust. There are a total of 2 fan headers, the CPU one for my CPU. Can I get a fan splitter to solve this? If so, which one? 

 

I also don't know how many pins the Corsair fans preinstalled have... so... 

 

I'm extremely confused how all my fans would be configured in my case. I know as far as the stock Intel fan from my 4570 will be plugged into the CPU fan header...

the CPU one is controlled by the computer, if the CPU get's hot, it sends more power and it spins up. Just use a fan splitter that uses molex for power, or use a splitter on the one other header.

Usually, as long as  you aren't running a delta server fan you'll be oK

If you run out of fan headers on the motherboard you can always get a molex to 3 pin fan adapters or ones that have multiple voltages which can lower the speed of the fan so it's not running full speed.

I wouldn't put a fan splitter on the CPU Fan Header, unless you are using both fans for the CPU. If you are using a splitter for the case fans, then plug the splitter into a Chassis Fan Header.
