Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I'm finally upgrading from my 4770k, planning on going for the new Ryzen 9 5950X. I do know that it's quite overkill for my uses, but I'd like to build the system around that. I currently have a 1080TI that I'll keep using for now, and then later down the line I can upgrade that.

But there's a lot of things that i*m not sure about, hope you guys can help me out :)

I'm planning to use the Phanteks P500A (with rgb)
http://phanteks.com/Eclipse-P500A-DRGB.html

I was thinking of using the Lianli UNI fans cause of their ease of use, https://www.lian-li.com/uni-fan/ , but not sure if there is something similar that would look better. The fans themselves aren't really being lit in the UNI fans it seems so that's a bit of a downside. Are there any fans out there that look better and are fairly easy to use as well?
For cooling, I've been looking that the NZXT Kraken as I've heard good things about it and also like the lcd display a lot.

So what I have no clue about, is:

  1. What motherboard to get. I hope to be able to put a nice NVMe ssd or two in there.
  2. What RAM to use for best perfomance with the cpu
  3. How to deal with all the RGB properly, never really tinkered with it. So I don't know if they should all be... aurasync (for example) to work together or how that stuff works.
  4. Dealing with cooling. Is the NZXT is a good pick. Don't know how big the radiators should be and so on and how much cooling I need in the case on top of that

Hope I remembered everything, and that someone out there can be a lifeline for someone like me who hasn't built a computer in ages :D

The forum has a motherboard tier list that you can check out and pick a motherboard, that is if you're going AMD.

Ideally 3600mhz running in dual channel.

Thank you for that :)

After looking through them and checking out a few things, I think the Hero VIII will be the one I go with. Are there any real differences between the wifi and non wifi one. I'm having hard time spotting any difference, but the wifi one is a bit cheaper, which... seems weird to me :D
