my 980ti fan died a couple of days after building this new pc so i'm a bit worried it might be related?

If a PCIe cable has 2 pins, it should be able to handle most GPUs that utilise both of them and the same time. Might be some exception like if it uses too much power for a single cable to handle, So wait and see if someone else replies. And im like 100% sure that fan was just bad from the beginning. Shouldnt have died because of supposedly "lack of power".

Maybe you could also tell the brand and name of your PSU? Will help us a bit more than just what GPU u will upgrade to.

Aorus 2080 Super
PSU is Silverstone 850w gold+

both cards use 2x 8pins.

right now my 980ti is connected by 1 cable which has like 4x 8pins hanging from it

im wondering if I should connect another one of these cables to have the 2x 8pins coming from different sockets on the psu
