Introducing CottonSWAB

Hello everyone,

 

I'd like to introduce myself to the forums. My ingame name for World of Warcraft is Cottonshift, my main was CottonSWAB(no alts) for over 14 years. During my WOW career I've had a new upgrade to my computer for every expansion. For shadowlands I decided to build my son the best pc (within budget) for what we want to do with it. Our specs will be a topic of discussion, I have no doubt.

 

I'll be posting in the appropriate forums for any questions or topic of discussions. I will always be respectful, that being said, if you poke the bear sometimes it growls.

 

I'm also looking for a professional liquid cooler in Ottawa. I need to find the best/cheapest way to liquid cool 4 titan xp's

The fuck do you need these for? And if you have the budget for these, you should have the budget to properly cool them and not get a "cheap as possible" solution.

why get 4 titan xp's and not just a 3090? Like, I don't think wow even supports sli, and if it does, why not 2 2080tis or 2 3090? Did you but the xp's in bulk?

At first when I read Cotton Swab I thought this post was about the pandemic, but fortunately it isn't.

I am also wondering what you do with the 4 Titan XPs and whether you even have software that can fully utilize them.

Please no profanity, I've already spent way way way too much money on this system already. I'm trying not to spend another $2000+ but I do want an extreme cooling solution for the almost $10000 in video cards...

We had 2 titan xp's already and I got 2 more for under $1400. I love the titan xp's they are great cards. And quite a few games we play use SLI.

 

WOW does use sli in dx 11. 

 

I'm also running an LG ultragear 38" 175hz 

 

and the wow We're running is at 200% resolution scaling from 3840x1600 which brings it to 7680x3200. I notice the difference with the res scaling ingame.

That enforces their point. If you're spending $10k on graphics cards (why tho, there are better cards for less money), proper cooling for them should not be an issue. You don't buy a luxury car if you don't have luxury car money. If you can find them, the blocks will probably cost you about $150 a piece, then you'll probably need a 4x120 rad at least to cool them all. I hope you haven't already bought the cards because you could probably get more, and more consistent, performance with a single 3090 for $1500 a card.

I'll be using a corsair 1000D case which should come in tomorrow. Which means I'll have tons of room to play with cooling wise. A Luxury car costs Luxury insurance (I drive a 96V Lithium Ebike) So I can afford such a system for my son

 

First I don't want a 3090. I love my cards I've been using 2 of them for over 2 years and all my games are running beautifully. 

Secondly I'm too busy to hunt down a store with a 3090 or wait overnight at a store on release day. 

ALSO I didn't have $2300+ for a 3090. I got our last 2 titan xp's for less then $1400.

 

AND I like testing game performance with SLI enabled and disabled... I will be posting a bunch of pics soon.

 

I don't doubt for a min that getting a 3090 would be easier then liquid cooling 4 titans... But you can only NVlink 2 3090's and If you think 1 3090 is gonna be faster then 4 titan xp's. I respectfully disagree.. we shall see... I may be eating my words later...
