Vertical Mount gen 4???

Go to solution Solved by jaslion,

Pcie 3.0 x16 is not saturated by even a rtx 3090 so don;t worry about it and just get a gen 3 cable.

Do keep in mind that you need to make sure the gpu has plenty of breathing room when mounted in such a fashion. Too close to the sidepanel will cause your temps to skyrocket.

I have a B550 mobo and I plan to use a vertical mount for my gpu. I currently have a 1060 but will upgrade to 3070 when it releases. I know that having a pcie extension will lower pcie bandwidth by a small percentage. Will I be able to still take advantage of that pcie gen 4 even though im using a pcie extension from the vertical mount? I plan to get the cooler master universal vertical mount version 2

Well technically the 3090 can over-saturate the Gen 3 bus by a few percent but it's very minimal indeed and won't impact the 3070 at all.

it is tho..... there is like a 1-2% decrease on pcie 3.0. but its negligable.
