Xiaomi mi 34" curved gaming monitor refreshrate issues

Buttefly

Hello guys!

I just got my new monitor home, and as the title suggets, it's a Xiaomi Mi 34 Curved Gaming Monitor

It's supposed to be running at 3440x1440 @ 144hz but it won't go above 100 hz. My guess is that it's because of my GPU's i/o.

All the info I find abou the i/o is contradicting eachother, and the only site that specs it correctly says it's DP 1.2, which should be enough to power that res and hz. I'm using the included cable and I've tried all ports on my gpu and the monitor.

I'm starting to wonder what's going on because it won't go into 144hz even at 2560x1080.

As it stands right now, I can't try the HDMI 2.0 because my guy has HDMI 1.4

Gigabyte G1 Gaming Radeon R9 390 gpu btw.

What's the issue? Why won't it run at 3440x1440 144hz like it's supposed to? TIA

You need DP 1.4.

Both DP 1.2 and HDMI 2.0 will limit refresh rate to 100Hz.

In other words, you need a newer GPU.

Oh well, just another reason to get me a 3080, if only they were in stock😖

Got myself the same monitor. Paired with a GTX 1060 (laptop variant)

But I have to use HDMI (which shuld be limited to 100hz) but my laptop cant handle more than 50 without having issues.

Living in the Philippines I have had to overseas source a mini dp to dp cable (its one of the only cable variants you wont find in Manila easily)

Hoping that once i pair it up, i can get the full potential of the monitor.

Great monitor though. 34" curved and helps me for my WFH for a cheap price. Cant really be beaten for budget

Will the mini dp to dp cable in online shops (Shopee/Lazada) won't work? Bought the same monitor too but I can only choose 50Hz in settings when it's 3440x1440.
