confused between iphone 12 and 12 pro. Please HELP!!!

Mayank Dhingra

I have been using an iphone 6 for 3 years now (bought a refurbished one 3 years back). I am thinking of buying an iphone 12 (128 gb) or iphone 12 with an xfinity offer. The total price would be $711 for iphone 12 and $842 for 12 pro. I think I'll be using it for atleast about 3-4 years or maybe more. The price difference is $130. Its not even about money. I just dont wanna spend money on anything. I like to take pictures so Is the 12 pro worth it? What do you guys think? Please help.

Thank you

That’s a very subjective question. Do the features of the pro offer you personally 130 dollars worth of value?

I mean the main difference is that 12 pro has an additional camera and a lidar sensor which will eventually help in taking good photographs plus there is this additional feature it has which they are calling "computational photography". and there's 2gb more RAM (6GB)compared to 12 (4GB) which could be helpful to keep it running for long term I guess. @LIGISTX

I mean, yes those things are true. But are those things worth 130 bucks to you? If yes, get the pro. If not, don’t. Lol. It’s really hard for others to advise on a subjective choice.

Personally I would get the pro since 130 dollars, to me at least, is relatively “meaningless” especially over a multiple year tech “investment”. But that doesn’t mean it’s worth it or should be done the same by you. iOS is incredibly good at memory management, my Xs has 4GB and it seems like plenty for my needs. It’s honestly hard to imagine a phone being faster then the Xs. If apple had an option that had been available in jailbrakes since the inception of them which is to just remove “prettyfied” animations and app transitions, the phone would be instant at everything, hell my jailbroken 6s was instant at everything... so we are basically at the point where “normal every day phone usage” is executed fine with current hardware. As far as differences in the camera system, if that is meaningful to you, sure, go for it.

As others have said it depends. The 12 Pro only really has the extra camera and LiDar. Personally if i was buying a 12 I'd get the Pro max for the substantial camera upgrade. Personally like the feel of the stainless steel on the pros vs the aluminium on the base 12.
