What display cables do I need?

Go to solution Solved by JustTheTip,

Thats a Thunderbolt USB C port on that laptop you will definitely be able to get an adaptor from Thunderbolt to DP.

Hell, an even more elegant was to do it would be to get something like the Dell WD19 docking station, it'll do all your monitors, peripherals, audio and power delivery over one cable, I run one at work with my Dell Precision laptop and have two monitors and all my peripherals and data collection gear connected to it via one cable. Only thing is they do come at a little bit of a cost, but I would say convenience out weighs it in this case.

I've got a Dell G7 7790 with an RTX 2060

I've got a Samsung 4k 60hz monitor and an Acer 144hz monitor that I like to use simultaneously hooked up to my laptop.

The laptop has:

1x Mini DP - I'm using this to go to the 4k Samsung as it will give me 4k 60hz - working well

1x Full HDMI - I want to use this on my Acer 144hz monitor which wouldn't be an issue except it only has 1x HDMI port on it that I'm using for my work laptop - it has a spare display port on it that isn't used at the moment.

So I'm wondering if a HDMI to Display port cable exists (note I'm going from my laptops HDMI port to my monitor's Display port) that will allow me to game at 144hz when I want to as well as 4k 60hz for other stuff.

My laptop also has USB type C - Can USB-C go to Display Port?

Thanks

Good point I forgot about that, because the others are just USB C right? The one I have at work is the WD19DC which is just dual USB C

Yeah over £200 on a dock ain't gonna fly.

Nice idea, but I've just bought a USB-C to display port cable off eBay for £10.99.

Hopefully it'll do the trick and its not a dodgy one... eBay is full of scammers these days...

Anyways, thanks guys!
