I have cable and this is the link to the modem that I currently have. https://www.cox.com/residential/support/netgear-c6300bd.html

Thats not a modem. Its a gateway. Yes terminology matters. A Gateway has a modem and router in one box. They suck generally. While you can buy another gateway, you might have similar issues. As far as replacing modems on Cox's network, you will need to consult Cox on what modems they allow. They might have a list or they might say any will work. Depends solely on the ISP.

I recently moved my pc setup next to the modem and I still get lag on certain games, I do not know if its the game servers or the modem, we have had this modem for over 6 years and wasnt the highest quality then. I think I get some packet loss while playing games because the game will look like frame lag but I still have over 200 fps on my game.

It probably is the modem. Do you only have the problem on one game, or multiple games?

I dont really play any other multiplayer games besides league of legends, if I should get a new modem what is a good brand for gamming I dont want to spend more than 100$

what type of modem would be good.

The best out right now are Docsis 3.1 modems, they will support the fastest speeds offered by your cable provider. Outside of that the CM500, CM600, SB6183 are all good. But it comes down to the speed tier your trying to go with. Starting with Docsis 3.0 cable systems started using channel bonding do get faster speeds so your cable modem will have a number of down stream and upstream channels it can use, the more the faster speeds supported.

Docsis 3.0 modems (The first number is the downstream and the second is upstream channels)

4x4

8x4

16x4

24x8

32x8 (DONT BUY, they are defective)

Your provider suggests at least a 16x4 modem, plus according to them they can only do 150 Mbps on a 8x4 modem, which is less than what Comcast can do, which is sad.

Docsis 3.1 modems are all 32x8, but they support the new OFDMA modulation that allows them to offer faster speeds. Again these modems are the top tier.

My advice is to either search your ISP's website for a supported device list OR contact them to see if they have any list of supported models. Comcast my ISP has an extensive list of modems that you can buy at the store and they are pretty much guaranteed to work, as in Comcast has throughly tested them on their network and provides firmware updates as needed.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
