Upgrading CPU

Hi All,

 

Quick one as usual - I am upgrading my CPU from the Ryzen 3 3100 to the Ryzen 5 3600. Is the price difference worth getting the 3600XT? The difference is around £30/$35USD.Or would it be better to save the money and get the 3600 standard

 

Also, I have tried looking a bit, but will it work with my ASRock B450M Pro4 Motherboard?

So 15% price increase for 5% performance?  Worth it to me, as that amount of money is non-impactive and I would want the best version of a thing.

 

It's all about your budget and value system.

 

It's 5% improvement.  You make the call.

 

And yes, it will drop right in.

Yes. If the Ryzen 3100 works then the 3600/3600X should also work.

@Dedayog Thank you! I did check elsewhere and somebody said it's not worth it, but now you've said its a 5% increase in performance, it maybe worth it for what i want to do.

 

I've checked on PC Part Picker and it said the B450M mATX may need a Bios update? @Spotty but unsure how accurate that website is on things like that

i don't feel this is a very significant increase. why don't you save money for another month and upgrade to the newly released 5600x?

5600x won't work on B450, will it?

 

I would agree with you, just have to save up a bit more for the motherboard as well.  Tho that may start becoming a "chasing the tail" situation.

@boggy77 I'm on a bit of a budget so would be selling my 3 3100 toward the new one. I'm going to be doing some light/medium VR on my PC and was advised that upgrading to this would be a solid step to support my 1650Super*

it should work with a beta bios.
