If I buy a second set of sticks and place them in the remaining slots, will this improve any performance besides more ram?

It can improve system RAM access performance by up to 3% if you're extremely lucky, and are using a workload that is bottlenecked by RAM performance. (those are extremely rare)

More likely, you can get a better performance increase by just tightening your RAM timings, or maybe overclocking the RAM a little bit using the suggested settings from 1usmus's DRAM Calculator For Ryzen.

I'm currently running a AMD 3700x on a MSI X570 Edge Wifi mobo.
I have VENGEANCE® RGB PRO 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16 Memory Kit installed currently in dual channel configuration.
If I buy a second set of sticks and place them in the remaining slots, will this improve any performance besides more ram?

Yes, but by how much depends on the situation you are looking for more performance from...

Are you page filings/ running out of ram? if so, yea.

If you don't need more ram and/or you're not page filing or running out of ram, no, zen 2 only has 2 memory channels so there's no extra bandwidth (assuming the 2x16 configuration is  identical in specs to the 4x16).
