I have recently aquired a machine with a bit of an odd issue. First I could not get the machine to post as the gpu was basically a paperweight. After replacing it, the machine seemed to boot, even if it was not happy such as the dram light staying on ( usually a quick hit of the mem ok button and we were back in buisness). Now it seems that the machine no matter what i have done will not stay running and will either hang forcing me to do a hard shutdown and reboot, or the screen would blank out wether I had a game running or not and most of the time come back. the machine will also occasionally freeze in bios but it only has done that twice in my posession.

mobo: ASUS Crosshair v Formula

ram: 4gb Corsair vengance ram
Storage: 500gb PNY ssd and 500 HDD
GPU: Amd radeon 6950 (non overclocked)
Cpu: AMD FX 8310 (4C/8T)
PSU: OCZ ZT Series 750w

What ive done thus far...

-Reseated everything in the motherboard including unhooking all of the LED fans in the case just to make sure I wasn't tripping the PSU rails.

-Swapped memory slots (waiting for a new set to come in soon to change it out), adjusted the ram speed and even tried letting the bios figure out what to do with trying to leave settings on auto

-Underclocking the CPU, and also undervolting, to see if maybe heat was playing an issue.

-swapping PSU slots for the GPU AUX Power
- updating to the latest bios that the motherboard has available

-I even gave a fresh install of windows, with nothing but drivers and a few programs for benchmarking the system (Prine95, furmark)

Aside from the issues listed the computer will run and perform great, even if it does sound like a jet engine with the original fans in there
