Hey, according to my friends (i have poor knowledge of pcs), i have a pretty good PC and i should be getting a lot more fps than them, even tho they have far higher ones.
Ive tried a complete factory reset (multiple times) and  upgrading my gpu but it doesnt seem to work.

They say they get 200-300 fps on csgo easy, whilst i have a consistent 100-120 with some spots on maps being 200.
On escape from tarkov i have a weak 30-60 fps and quite some stutters (that appear to be on my end, even tho tarkov is known to have shifty servers).

CPU: I7-6700 3.4Ghz
GPU: GTX 1060 6GB
Memory: 16GB 2133 Mhz
Hard drive:  ST2000DM001-1ER164 (2TB)

Sshd: SAMSUNG MZNLN256HCHP-00000 (250GB)

Got any clue what could be my issue?

What OS and build number/version?

Build 18363

So reasonably new/current.

Are you certain the specs in games, match exactly your friend's specs in game? I know csgo has a lot of options...

We were both on the settings for max FPS, they claim i should be getting 2-300 at highest settings tho.

What they claim, and reality, may be two different things.

Looking around the web at things, 300FPS isn't doable at your current rig, you'd need an 8700k and a LOT better video card for max settings.

okay thanks, i might just buy a whole new rig.
Just watched LTTs nvidea video, appearantly the 3070 should be amazing bang for buck at 500?
I have no clue on how to decide on a CPU tho, got any tips? I have no clue what the numbers mean, ive heard higher does not necesarily mean better?
for SSD i hear a lot of good about this small stick like thingy from samsung, 1TB ssd iirc for something like 250. Ill try to find the name.
Ram i dont know much, 16Gb min + 3200Mhz minimum? Or is there more to this?

*IF* you can get it for that price, then yes. Amazing.

All the fangirls here at LTT salivate over the Ryzen series CPUs, and yes, they are very good bang for the buck (just got a system put together with a Ryzen 5 2600 for dirt cheap) but it's not as cut and dried as that. Intel still holds the crown for gaming, but if you are willing to compromize a little, then the Ryzen prices are hard to beat.

Your 6700 is the 6th gen Intel CPU. I3/I5/i7 is typically related to number of cores/threads. The higher the i number, the more cores/threads. Most of the time.

a (k) designation means the CPU can be overclocked, as in a 6700k, or 8700k. A non-K version is locked.

small stick like thingy from samsung,

nVME (non-Volatile Memory Express) the chewing-gum shaped SSD sticks. Very good, but you have to be careful, a lot of the cheaper ones lack certain features which can impact performance.

Mhz rating of the RAM is largely dependent on if the motherboard supports this. Not all will clock that high, but that speed of RAM will only make a few FPS difference in games, and may not be cost-effective.

Well linus talked about it being 500, so that's not the consumer price he was talking about?
I dont know a thing about Ryzen and don't mind shelling out a little extra cash for a good PC, i also use it for 3D design in programs like Creo, Solid edge and hopefully in the future, Inventor.
Certain features? How do you mean?
What does ram speed actually do then?

Moves data from CPU to GPU to display. The faster the RAM, the faster this gets done, but not at speeds humans can see, we're talking miliseconds of difference in performance, hence why it's only a few FPS improvement for games.

You'll need to see how well they scale to multiple cores and threads (some software doesn't) before you can make a decision on AMD or Intel.

DRAM or DRAMless. Makes a difference in speeds of nVME drives when pushing large files or lots of data to one.

Certainly, when you are ready for a new system, post at the "new builds and planning" section on LTT, and we'll make some suggestions to improve it, if need be

yea looks like something is up with your graphics card... 1st percentile is like not working properly...

So you should look into whats causing this.

Reinstall drivers with display driver uninstaller, look if its cooled properly if its running in pci-e 16x, see if the power cables are correctly attached, look if its sloted in properly all the stuff...

Also your ram doesnt look to work flawlessly either, do what is suggested, make sure its running in dual channel and that xmp profile is enabled.

But you cant trust the benchmark if you have so many stuff open in the background too, you had 24% CPU usage in the background while doing this benchmark.... so looks like your PC is a mess in multiple ways. No wonder it would underperform...

AND your PC is running for over 26DAYS ...
I cant believe what im seeing actually...

WTF is wrong with you?
