Display Overclocking

I've recently been trying to overclock the screen on my Predator Helios 300 past its 60hz limit with CRU. The most I can eke out is 70hz before these dark vertical lines appear on screen, and at 80hz, they are extremely distinguishable from the normal colors. Is this normal? Or is this the limit of what I can push my screen to.?
