This is one of those RTFM moments....

 

But gently and carefully would be a good way to describe handling processor installation.

You should have a tiny golden triangle at a single corner and a marked triangle on the socket as well, those need to be aligned. Don't ever force it in, it's made to fit, if it doesn't, you made a mistake.

And on the motherboard where does this golden triangle have to be? Are the pins on the processor easily damaged when placed on the desk?
