Current Bottleneck

I just ran a Benchmark on Hitman 2 on a 5760x1080 60hz setup. I get on average 55fps for the whole benchmark but task manager reports 80% CPU usage vs 20% GPU usage.

 

Is this a bottleneck of the CPU on my GPU?

 

Also, task manager said I am using half of my 1080ti video memory so how does that only equal 20% of my GPU?

20% GPU usage when CPU usage is almost maximum means a CPU bottleneck on your system, what is the CPU youre running with the 1080ti

Running any OC?

if not there is a high possibility of a CPU bottleneck with a Sandy Bridge chip

No OC, just running the base clock of 3.3GHz

 

I assumed there would be some bottlenecking given the age but not sure how much (ie if I upgrade to current components am I likely to get 1-2fps or 20+)

Hard to say with Hitman 2 since its a poorly optimised game

but in general going from a 3930K stock to a let say an AMD Ryzen 3600 you will get around 5-10fps boost in some games but sometimes a 20-30+fps boost in some games
