I don't know how long ago it was that the CLI-based Speedtest binaries were made public.  Maybe this is old news and I'm just catching up.  I find this a HUGE help, specially when I'm working on my router's console.  https://www.speedtest.net/apps/cli .. looks like they have binaries for Windows, MacOS, Linux, and FreeBSD.  That's handy, as my router is the latter of those.

I've always had issues, at least on Ubuntu, where the speedtest cli is all over the place and never really near accurate. Not sure if that's changed since I used it last (~1+ years at this point)

Heh; I didn't even know it's existed for that long.  From my testing on my FreeBSD router and server, and my Mac: all seems pretty consistent.

Yah, for years there was some crappy cli script that did speedtest. I see late last year they released a dedicated speedtest app. I installed that and it's pretty consistent now :)
