Help installing Syncthing on my unRAID server

I'm looking for help on how to install the Syncthing app on my unRAID server.  I can't seem to find any videos show me what settings I need to make or change.

I have no idea what to do with the "Ports".

In a situation like this where is the best place to look for answers/install help?  Should I ask unRAID?  Or perhaps turn to the maker of the app?

Thank you!

The best thing is to RTFM. Did you check out the support page for the docker container? https://hub.docker.com/r/linuxserver/syncthing/

Don't touch the ports, just use the standard ones as give in this example snippet from the docker containers support page as below

Quote

Usage

Here are some example snippets to help you get started creating a container.

docker

docker create \
  --name=syncthing \
  --hostname=syncthing `#optional` \
  -e PUID=1000 \
  -e PGID=1000 \
  -e TZ=Europe/London \
  -p 8384:8384 \
  -p 22000:22000 \
  -p 21027:21027/udp \
  -v /path/to/appdata/config:/config \
  -v /path/to/data1:/data1 \
  -v /path/to/data2:/data2 \
  --restart unless-stopped \
  linuxserver/syncthing

As for "Host Path 2" that you pointed to with the red arrow, that is path mapping between your UnRAID shares, and the docker container.

So the path you enter is the UnRAID Source path, and the part written in orange is your Container Destination path.

As an example: For running Plex, I might have a share on my UnRAID called "TV_Shows"...this is located at /mnt/user/TV_Shows on UnRAID. But  through the path mapping, in my docker container this would simply be /TV_Shows

So for your syncthing, as it shows you in orange, the default docker location is /sync  ....what you need to define is where that points to on your UnRAID.

So on your UnRAID under "Shares" you might have a share simply called "sync"...in that case, the destination would be /mnt/user/sync

You might be trying to sync an existing share that's simply called "share"...in that case, the destination would be /mnt/user/share

e.g I have this share simply called "share"

You can see it's location is /mnt/user/share

If I mapped /mnt/user/share to /sync, then in the syncthing docker, i would see everything in "share"

I'm sorry, what is RTFM??

Thank you very much for the help!!!

It just means to read the documentation (Read The F** Manual), I know its a little bit to get your head around though so hopefully my explanation was clear enough

Jarsky,

I'm reading the documentation now ... (& trying to understand it!)

Forgive me, I'm sure this is an elementary question but how do you get to the "Index of" screen you showed?  I played around with the 'Shares' tab some but couldn't figure it out.

I have the Syncthing app install on my server ... now I'm trying to figure out how to use it to sync media and data I have on it to other machines.

I'm trying to spend a bit more time learning my unRAID server.

Thank you!

Click on Shares > Find your share > click on the Folder icon next to it
