Sony MDR7506s?

Does anyone know if sony mdr 7506s actually live up to their reputation? The claims online seem a little bit too good for a pair of headphones from 1991. Feel free to suggest any headphones for less than or slightly over $100 :D

I don't know how good they really are 

but allegedly thay have been the industry standard since '85 or something.

They are amazing if you are looking for a relatively flat pair of headphones

They're actually based off the V6, an even older version. They truly are the standard for professional broadcast-type work.

I have a pair of v6's and its a pair from the 90s before they revised the drivers. They are quite good and flat but they are monitoring headphones so there isnt much bass.
