So I found a bug (one of a few) on my Nexus 5.

I don't know if this is just applicable to me or if anyone else will have this issue, I have looked on forums and submitted a bug report to Google.

I have a 16 gig T-Mobile Nexus 5 in Black <3

I am using ART (Android Run Time) instead of Dalvik

Here is the issue, I am getting weird audio interference when playing YouTube/Google Play Music over Wifi. Weird glitchy audio and popping comes through both the headphone and speaker. Local content doesn't seem to be effected but it is quite annoying because all of my music is on Google play (16 gigs is a bit small) and I have Google Play Music all access. I have found a solution but it isn't optimal, that would be turn wifi off and stream using mobile data (like I said not optimal) doing so eliminates the audio interference.

Switching back to Dalvik has solved the issue entirely but I found ART to be more responsive in general.

Thoughts?

It would be cool if you Nexus 5 owners could possibly help recreate the problem on your own devices. if enough of us submit a bug report, it may be patched. :)

Hmm...well I have an iPhone so I know I can't help, however I just couldn't help but mention that that Nexus 5 is a VERY aesthetically pleasing phone. :D

Is the back rubberised? It looks like it.

ON A 7 MONTH BREAK FROM THESE LTT FORUMS. WILL BE BACK ON NOVEMBER 5th.

Awesome! :D

I think the previous generation, Nexus 4, was covered in glass at the back and front. I think they must've got a lot of people complaining and did away with the glass.

Yeah, I bet it was. It's probably why Apple did away with the glass back on the iPhone 4/4S.

It's odd that you post that because I was just looking into doing that a few hours ago. Seems pretty promising! Though I wish Google would optimize Dalvik for the N5 like Motorola did for the X

I'm not even rooted yet lol (surprising really)

Have you done this yet?

if so how is it?

It does feel nice to have a glass back. Makes the phone heavy and slippery on smooth surfaces though :/

I must say that there's been plenty of times I have thought about going with an Android phone like the Nexus series or the HTC One, however because of the conveniences of the iPhone 4 and my iPad 4 it's kinda hard to break away from that.

yes i have done this

i do notice a difference

main reason i did this was because i wanted to have good speed at a heavy underclock

my phone is at 1.5Ghz

if you want to root (warranty will be VOID)

use this easy tool kit

EDIT

android 4.5/5.0 will have ART by default

that's why you get an android device that fills a niche that hasn't been filled yet

i.e. get a nexus 7 lol

Yeah, it is nice to have a glass back on my iPhone 4 but yeah, it is rather slippery (hence the reason why you need put covers on them). But I still like my iPhone. Maybe one of these days I will break away from Apple and venture out into Android land. :P

Nexus 5 owner, I'm running ART as well and haven't had this issue. I only use the speaker so I don't know if that makes a difference but I do frequently watch videos over wifi

Maybe there is something wrong with my phone? hmm

UPDATE!!

Well I tried to delve into the problem even deeper than I did, I uninstalled all 3rd party apps, I wiped cache in recovery, I did a lot of different things but the thing that has seemed to work is the factory reset. really strange occurrences I suppose but hey, it's a developer phone not a consumer device so I can't complain.
